Schedule Changes – We would like to thank everyone fortheir flexibility and understanding with the recent schedule changes. We areexcited to be able to offer some additional classes. Please visit the website (www.sundancestudiosphoenix.blogspot.com)to see the most current schedule.

Winter Recital DVD – We are very proudof all the dancers that danced their hearts out at the Winter Recital. Everyonedid such a great job! The DVDs take roughly 4 weeks. You will be receiving anemail once they are here.

Summer Recital (July 14^th)Costumes – Hard to believe there are only 168days until the next recital. Costume fees will be pulled on March 1^stto ensure all costumes arrive in time for picture week and recital. Costumefees are $65 ($85 for Hip Hop costumes) and $25 for the recital fee. Pleasenote if you pre-ordered your costume you will only owe the $25 recital fee.

Add On Class Offer EXTENDED – Wehave extended the Add On Class Offer (add1 class to your current schedule for$25, add on 2 for an additional $40) until Feb 10^th. Please let usknow if you would like to take advantage of this offer.

StaceyJ Hip Hop Class – StaceyJwill be choreographing the routines for the July recital. The 24^thSt class is Fri Feb 3^rd from 7-9pm. The 75^th Ave class isFri Feb 10^th from 5-7pm.

Competition Teams – Thecompetition season is underway. Come and show your Sundance Studios support.The next competition is Feb 10-12 at Pinnacle High School. We will also betaking a trip on a Caribbean Cruise during summer break!

Lobby Addition – Thereis now a TV in the 24^th St location that is running ads at ourlocation as well as others throughout the valley. Ask if you have anyquestions.

Tuition Reminder – ALL tuition, regardless of payment type,is due on the 1^st of themonth. All payments received after the 1^st will be charged a $25 late fee.

Congrats to our Competition Teams on their first competition yesterday. They did great coming home with multiple awards including Category Award (The Climb), 4th Overall Award (Forget You) and Judges Choice Award (Hip Hip Chin Chin). Way to kick off the season girls!!
Now onto the next and its coming up fast...Feb 10-12 at Pinnicale High School...

The 2012 Winter Recital was quite the success!! The dancers pulled out all the stops and did an AMAZING job! It is great to see the excitement on their faces backstage as they anticipate their time on stage...all the hard work is worth it.

Thank you so much to all the people that helped out backstage, we honestly couldn't do it without you! A special Thank You to Darius Perry, our MC for the night. And of course, all our dancers, Miss Marisol and Miss Melissa. All your hard work was apparent, what a great night!

DressRehearsal:
ALL COMBOLEVEL 1students arrive in their first costume at 9:00a.m at the SOUTH ENTRANCE doors of the Tempe Performing Arts Center (Pleaserefer to the order of routines attached).
ALL LEVEL 2and TECH students please arrive at 11:00 am. Stage parents will be waitingfor your child. You will sign in your child with security and you may go to theaudience to view the rehearsal if you would like.

Only stage volunteers are allowed backstage.

DON’Tforget DANCE SHOES! All dancers must wear flesh colored dance tights(gymnastics class wears tights that stop at the ankle). If your child is inmore than one dance, all other costumes must be labeled (white tape works well)with the student’s name and dance on it. It is highly recommended to havea garment/dance bag with all of your child’s costumes in your child’s hands.Please put all accessories to costumes (bows, shoe ties, etc.) in a plasticbaggie with your costume bag. Don’tforget tap/ballet shoes and flesh colored tights. Please put yourchild’s name on his/her shoes! Dancers will be released to parents at the endof the show at the South ramp of the main lobby. Stage parents will be waitingwith your dancers to deliver them back to you.

Recital: Dancers,please arrive at 5:20 p.m. in your first costume/ full hair and make-up. Pleasecheck in your dancer with security and proceed to your seats; the recital willbegin promptly at 6:00 p.m. There will be a 10-minute intermissionhalfway through the show. We should finish by around 8:30 p.m. If your danceris late to the recital, they may miss their performance. It is imperative thatyour dancer is on time!

Tickets: Tickets willbe on sale at the Tempe Performing Arts Center Box Office on January   2012 (480-350-2822). Please reserve yourtickets in advance; our show is likely to sell out!

DVD’s: Everyone will receive acomplimentary DVD of the show!!

We hope everyone enjoyed their holiday break! Classes were set to resume Jan 3rd. We are opening the studio on Monday, January 2 if you would like to come back early!

WINTER RECITAL :

The Winter Recital is Saturday, January 14th!! You will be receiving info later this week regarding rehearsal and tickets.

Stage Volunteers Needed :

We are still in need of stage volunteers. Remember, all stage volunteers receive a discount on the July costumes.

Recital Picture CDs :

A CD of both the individual and group pictures will be available for purchase.

$40 for 1 costume

Follklorico is coming to Sundance!!

We are excited to annouce that Miss Marisol will now be teaching Folklorico classes at both studios. She has numerous years of experieince dancing and teaching Folklorico. The schedule is as follows:

24th St = Thurs 4:30-5:15
75th Ave=Tues 4:35-5:25

Costumes – Costumes arescheduled to be at the studio the week of Dec 5^th for pick up. Ifyou do not attend class your costume will remain at the studio and can bepicked up the following week for pictures.

Picture Weeks – Please see thepicture schedule that was emailed and posted on the website for the exact dateof your class pictures. If you dancer is not in the recital you do not need toattend class during picture week. Please feel free to do a make up class duringthe following week.

Picture Hair/Make Up – For the recitalpictures you we do not have a required hair style. Please feel free to do yourdancers hair as you wish. Make up can also be used at the parents digression.

Recital Picture CDs – A CD of both theindividual and group pictures will be available for purchase.

We are now taking orders for trophies and medals for the Winter 2012 Recital. Trophies are $15 and medals are $7. Thurs Hip Hop Time Change

The class time for the Thurs hip hop class at the 75th Ave and Lower Buckeye location has changed. Starting Thurs Oct 20th class will start at 7:05pm. For the following classes Stacy J will be teaching choreography so classes will run from 7:05-8:35pm: Oct 20th, Oct 27th and Nov 10th.
Once the choreography is taught Marisol will be teaching the class and it will run from 7:05-7:55pm.

We are excited to annouce Stacy J will be doing to choreography for the hip hop classes in the Winter Recital! Stacy J comes with an extensive dance background and numerous awards. We are looking forward to having Stacy J as a part of our Sundance family.

AZ Dancing with the Local Stars

On Sat Oct 8th Melissa competed in the 1st Annual AZ Dancing with the Local Stars to benefit Mary's Mission. The Competition Team performed during the intermission. It was a great experience for all!

October 1st: Monthly tuition and costume/recital fees will be deducted from the account on file.

October 8th: Melissa Stokka is competing and the Competition Teams are performing in the AZ Dancing with the Local Stars to raise money for Mary's Mission. Please join us in supporting our community. Information about purchasing tickets is available at the studio.

October 10-15: FALL BREAK! Both the 24th St and 75th Ave locations will be closed. Enjoy your time off.

2012 Recitals: Mark your calendars! The Winter Recital is January 14th and the Summer Recital is July 14th.
Costume Offer: We are excited to offer a discount on the July costumes if they are purchased in October with the January costumes. Please check your email for more information about this offer.
Costume Charges: Costumes fees will be deducted on October 1st with the monthly tuition. Please contact Melissa in writing (sundanceacctgdept@yahoo.com) if you do not wish to participate in the recitals prior to October 1st. There are no refunds once the funds have been deducted.
Costume Measurements: We have been taking measurements throught the month. If you have any questions about what size your dancer is please ask Melissa in the front. If you wish you order a different size than what your dancer measured, please let us know prior to Oct 1st.
Competition Teams: We have all the dates for the 2012 competitions. Reminder, Oct 1st monthly tuition, recital costumes AND competition payments will be deducted. Please contacted Melissa T if you need to make arrangements.
Handbooks: Please let us know if you did not receive a Handbook. It contains all the information you need to know about our policies and procedures.
Tuition: All tuition is due on the 1st of the month unless previous arrangements have been made. If tution is not received a $25 late fee will be accessed to your account.

Welcome back! – Welcome back to another dance year! August is a very special month for Sundance Studios, both studios opened in August. Happy 3 yr Anniversary to the 24th St location and Happy 1 yr Anniversary to the 75th Ave location!

Picture CDs– Picture CDs are still available for purchase! The cost is 1 student/costume $40, Multiple costumes $45 and multiple students $55.

Recital DVDs– I know everyone is very anxious to get the free DVD of the recital, I know I am! The DVD typically take 4 weeks to get from the videographer. As soon as we get them in we will notify everyone they are available for pick up.

Open registration– Open registration is now in full swing. Current clients are $12 and new clients are $20.

Sundance Studios Handbook - We will be giving all our Sundance families a Handbook which has all of our policies. The receipt of handbook needs to be signed and returned no later than August 31st.

Parents- We are implementing a new policy. We will have a once month "viewing week". At all other times the curtains over the windows will be closed (24th St) and all parents will need to stay in the lobby behind the door (75th ave). The dancers have been getting very distracted as they can see out the windows. Thank you for your understanding and support.

Sundance Information for Pics & Recital

Hi!

We have a very busy couple of months ahead so we wanted to break down a few things for you.

COSTUMES: Costumes have begun to come in, yay! We are in the process of checking them all in and will begin distributing them the week of June 20th (Marco's Hip Hop Pictures will be the first week of July. Your child will be given a picture notice reminder the week before pictures. A full description of picture schedules will be posted on line @www.sundancestudiosphoenix.blogspot.com Please check the site if you have any questions. Once you get your costume please take it out of the bag and try it on.

PICTURES: Pictures will begin the week of June 27th through July 3rd. Please keep your eyes open for the schedule of when your class will get their pictures taken.

DANCE REPORT CARDS: Starting June 15th we will be doing "dance report cards" for each dancer. The form will go over technical skills mastered and classes recommended for the 2011-2012 dance year.

2011-2012 DANCE YEAR: We are excited to have the new schedule completed! We have been able to add classes at each studio to make sure everyone can get into the class they want. The schedule will be released July 1st.

2011-2012 REGISTRATION: Registration for the 2011-2012 dance year will begin on July 1st. Fees are as follows: pre-registration July 1-15=$5; open-studio registration July 15-31=$10; all-open registration Aug 1st=$12 (existing) $15 (new). We are capping each class at 12 so sign up early to ensure you get the class you want! We currently have many classes that are at 12 with new clients wanting to sign up...

RECITAL: The recital is set for July 23rd. Dress rehersal will be @ 9:00 am and the recital will be at 6 pm @ the TempePerforming Arts Center. More information to come...

STAGE VOLUNTEERS: We need your help! Please sign up to be a backstage volunteer during the rehearsal and recital. If you have a dancer that may require extra assistance you will need to help backstage. You will be receiveing a DVD of the recital and there will be a tv backstage playing the recital in real-time. The more helpers the merrier! We are super appreciative of the volunteers and this year we have a great Thank You gift! Please look for the sign up sheet in the studio lobby!

SUMMER BREAK/DANCE CAMP: There will not be any regularly scheduled dance classes the week of July 25th. We will be offering a dance camp during this week! Please contact Melissa at melissa.sundancestudios@yahoo.com for more information and to sign up.

Summer Recital – JULY 23^rd!!! The date is quickly approaching. There are only 7 more weeks, which means 7 more practices. Please make sure your dancer is at all practices. The dancers have been working so hard.

Costumes – The costumes are scheduled to arrive the end of June/beginning of July. Once we have the costumes we will be sending out the schedule for pictures. Please note, due to some sizing/inventory issues some of the costumes have been changed.

2011-2012 Schedule – We are finalizing the new schedule, which will go into effect in August during our registration period. We are very excited to be able to offer some additional classes! Stay tuned for more info…

Competition Team – Our 2010-2011 competition season if officially over but that doesn’t mean rest for these girls. We have performances throughout the summer at such events as the Philippine Independence Celebration and a Women’s Shelter fund raiser.

Performance Team- We are excited to have our performance team up and practicing! There is still time to enroll if you are interested. These girls will be performing at such events as listed above. This is an excellent way to get ready for our competition team!

Summer Break: The summer break for the studio is July 25-30. NOTE: We are offering a dance camp during this week. There are a few spaces left. Contact Melissa if you are interested, melissa.sundancestudios@yahoo.com

Parents- We appreciate your efforts to pick up your dancers on time, we have had children left unattended; we would like to have enough staff to cover the classes scheduled (Please do not leave your children in the lobby unattended at any time). Thanks for your cooperation!

PARENT REMINDERS:

-Students should arrive to class 5 minutes prior to the start time in order to have shoes on and ready for class to begin. For Combo classes shoes must be kept in the studio as the shoe change can be quick with as little distraction as possible.

-Parents are not allowed in the studio during class. This is a distraction for all students. To ensure the best dance education, please remain in the lobby area.

-TUITION REMINDER – ALL tuition, regardless of payment type, is due on the 1^st of the month. All payments received after the 1^st will be charged a $25 late fee. Any non sufficient funds will add a $25 charge to your balance. Balances left unpaid will result in student withdrawal until account has been paid in full (in order for payments to be funded by the first of each month, transactions are subject to be pending 48 hours in advance).

-LATE FEE POLICY – Please make note of the class time and make sure you are at the studio to pick up your dancer 5 mins prior to that time. In order to make class times at both studios to is imperative all parents pick up dancers on time. Beginning September 1^st we are implementing the late fee policy. Late fees are $5 for the first 5 minutes, and $1 for each minute thereafter. Fees will be accumulated and charged with tuition the following month.

-MAKE-UP POLICY: If you plan to miss a class or you have an unexpected illness, you have 30 calendar days to make up your class. You must email your preference of make-up classes to Melissa (Melissa.sundancestudios@yahoo.com) in order to plan the date of your make-up. Make-up classes are a great way to try new genres of dance. So if your child wants to try something new, it is encouraged! Missed classes do not constitute a refund and cannot be added to result in a free or reduced tuition for future use.

Thank You Sundance Families for your help at our January recital! We appreciate you!! :)

Summer Recital – Summer recital will be on July 23^rd at the Tempe Performing Arts Center (Dress Rehearsal @ 9 a.m. and recital at 6 p.m.). Some classes will be repeating their January recital dances.

Costumes – Costumes will be deducted from the account on file on April 1^st. If your child will not be participating in the summer recital, we will need to know in writing by March 15^th.

Class Changes – Our Level 1 Jazz/Pom class on Weds @ 5:25 is being split. Now Weds 5:25 is Level 1 adv ages 4-6 and Thurs 5:10 is Level 1 ages 3-5.

Competition – Our competition team has a competition on March 25^th. Good Luck Girls!!

Winter Recital/DVDs – The winter recital was a huge success! The dancers did great!! Thank you to all that helped, we couldn’t have done it without you. **DVDs of the performance take between 4-6 weeks. We will notify you as soon as they come in.

New Classes!! – We are opening new classes at the WEST studio. Thurs 3:45 Jazz Tech ages 6+ and Thurs 4:35 Hip Hop/Pom ages 3-5. Contact Melissa to enroll in one of these classes.

Spotlight Competition- Our competition team will be competing at Spotlight Dance Competition @ North Canyon High School (8-9 a.m.) Saturday, January 29^th. Please come cheer us on!

Zumba is coming to 75th – Beginning the week of Feb 7^th we will be offering Zumba at our 75^th Ave location. First class is FREE! Classes will be Tues 7:05pm, Weds 7:45pm and Sat 7:25am. Classes are $9/class and we will have unlimited for $48/month as well.

Pres Day-Opened: We will be opened on Monday Feb 21^st.

Directions from Sundance Studios (24^th location) to Tempe Performing Arts Center :

Head East on Baseline Rd. (Towards the 60/AZ Mills Mall)

Turn LEFT (North) on S. Priest Dr. (Right by AZ Mills)

Turn RIGHT (East) on Rio Salado Parkway

Make a U-Turn onto W. Rio Salado Parkway

(This is a 20-25 minute drive from 24^th St. and a 40 min drive from the 75^th Ave. Studio)

Dress Rehearsal:

All students arrive in their first costume at 9:00 a.m. with hair and accessories (no jewelry except small earrings) at the SOUTH ENTRANCE doors of the Tempe Performing Arts Center (Please refer to the order of routines attached). Stage parents will be waiting for your child. You will sign in your child with security and you may go to the audience to view the rehearsal if you would like. Only stage volunteers are aloud backstage. DON’T forget DANCE SHOES! All dancers must wear flesh colored dance tights (gymnastics class wears tights that stop at the ankle). If your child is in more than one dance, all other costumes must be labeled (white tape works well) with the student’s name and dance on it. It is highly recommended to have a garment/dance bag with all of your child’s costumes in your child’s hands. Please put all accessories to costumes (bows, shoe ties, etc.) in a plastic baggie with your costume bag. Don’t forget tap/ballet shoes and flesh colored tights. Please put your child’s name on his/her shoes! Make surehair bows are safely pinned. If a hair bow falls off during a dance routine, it can really upset our little ones! Dancers will be released to parents at the end of the show at the South ramp of the main lobby. Stage parents will be waiting with your dancers to deliver them back to you.

Recital:

Dancers, please arrive at 5:20 p.m. in your first costume/ full hair and make-up. Please check in your dancer with security and proceed to your seats; the recital will begin promptly at 6:00 p.m. There will be a 10-minute intermission halfway through the show. We should finish by around 8:30 p.m. If your dancer is late to the recital, they may miss their performance. It is imperative that your dancer is on time!

Dancing Dads:

You will come to the auditorium to sign in during intermission during the recital, after you perform you can rush back to the audience. You will need to attend our dress rehearsal as well! We won’t need the dad dancers until 10:00 a.m.

Tickets:

Tickets will be on sale at the Tempe Performing Arts Center Box Office on December 24th, 2010 (480-350-2822). Please reserve your tickets in advance; our show is likely to sell out!

Stage Moms: There will be 1 to 2 stage moms for each dance. There will be a mandatory meeting for stage moms on Saturday, December 18th @ 1:05 p.m. at the 24^th (see address listed below) studio. We are still welcoming more stage help; stage moms will receive a special gift Stage moms are the ONLY parents aloud backstage or in the dressing rooms. Stage moms will be wearing badges and children will be signing in and out with security when you drop them at the stage doors. If you are not a stage mom, please be seated in the auditorium while you enjoy the show. All dancers must remain back stage for the entire show. Releasing dancers prior to the end of the show is a serious safety hazard. Please do not leave early; we want you to enjoy the show! Hello,

Due to delays in costume shipments, some classes will be taking pictures on different dates. On the day of your pictures, please keep your dancer's shoes clean. Please do not wear dance shoes outside of the studio floor at any time. Your dancer will need to wear flesh colored (your natural skin color) dance tights for picture day and recital. Gymnastics classes will need to wear flesh colored dance tights that stop at the ankle. Ballet classes will wear pink ballet shoes, tap classes will wear black tap shoes, and pom/cheer will wear white tennis shoes. You may have your child wear hair and make-up however you'd like. Picture Week &Winter Recital – The winter recital is scheduled for January 8, 2011. The costumes have been ordered and the routines begun… Costumes are set to arrive by November 12^th. Picture week will be tentatively scheduled for NOVEMBER 17^th-24^th. Students will arrive to their normally scheduled class in their costumes. (More info to come).

Competition Teams – We will be performing at Banner Hospital in Sun City on November 6^that 11:00 a.m. The first competition (Starbound) is November 13^th. Good Luck Girls!!

Saturday Classes – The competition teams will be competing 2 of the Saturdays. There is a possibility that Marisol will sub for Melissa on those days.

STUDIO CLOSED: Thanksgiving Break is November 25^th -26^th, and both studios will be closed. Please note: full tuition is due by the 1^stof each month. All students will receive an average of 4 classes per month based on the dance calendar.

TUITION REMINDER – ALL tuition, regardless of payment type, is due on the 1^st of the month. All payments received after the 1^st will be charged a $25 late fee.

LATE FEE POLICY – Please make note of the class time and make sure you are at the studio to pick up your dancer 5 mins prior to that time. In order to make class times at both studios to is imperative all parents pick up dancers on time. Beginning September 1^st we are implementing the late fee policy. Late fees are $5 for the first 5 minutes, and $1 for each minute thereafter. Fees will be accumulated and charged with tuition the following month.

NON SUFFICENT FUNDS: Any non sufficient funds will add a $25 charge to your balance. Balances left unpaid will result in student withdrawal until account has been paid in full (in order for payments to be funded by the first of each month, transactions are subject to be pending 48 hours in advance).

MAKE-UP POLICY: If you plan to miss a class or you have an unexpected illness, you have 30 calendar days to make up your class. You must email your preference of make-up classes to Melissa (Melissa.sundancestudios@yahoo.com) in order to plan the date of your make-up. Make-up classes are a great way to try new genres of dance. So if your child wants to try something new, it is encouraged! Missed classes do not constitute a refund and cannot be added to result in a free or reduced tuition for future use.

~ ~ Winter Recital – The winter recital is scheduled for January 8, 2011. To confirm we will have the costumes in time we need to order them in October. Charges will be withdrawn from the credit card on file October 15, 2010. The recital fee is $25 and the costume fee is $65 per class. You must contact Melissa in writing via email to stop the winter recital payment from being deducted on October 15^th if you do not want to not be included in the winter recital. Students will have a separate costume for each class.

~ Competition Teams – We will be performing at a hospital on November 6^th.

Dress Rehearsal will be at 9:00 a.m. and the recital will take place at 6:00 p.m. More information to come! Costumes will be ordered in October. Dress Rehearsal: All students arrive in their first costume at 9:00 a.m. at the SOUTH ENTRANCE doors of the Tempe Performing Arts Center (Please refer to the order of routines attached). All other costumes must be labeled (white tape works well) with the student’s name and dance on it. It is highly recommended to have a garment/dance bag with all of your child’s costumes in your child’s hands. Please put all accessories to costumes (bows, shoe ties, etc.) in a plastic baggie with your costume bag. Don’t forget tap/ballet shoes and flesh colored tights. Please put your child’s name on his/her shoes!

Stage Moms: There will be 1 to 2 stage moms for each dance. There will be a mandatory meeting for stage moms on Saturday, July 10^th @ 1:15 p.m. at the studio. We are still welcoming more stage help; stage moms will receive a complimentary ticket. Stage moms are the ONLY parents aloud backstage or in the dressing rooms. Stage moms will be wearing badges and children will be signing in and out with security when you drop them at the stage doors. If you are not a stage mom, please be seated in the auditorium while you enjoy the show. All dancers must remain back stage for the entire show. Releasing dancers prior to the end of the show is a serious safety hazard. Please do not leave early; we want you to enjoy the show! After dress rehearsal, we will announce for you to pick up your dancers at the South entrance/security checkpoint. Please have this document handy with your order of routines as a reference. Dress rehearsal should finish by approximately 12:30 p.m.

Recital: Dancers, please arrive at 5:20 p.m. in your first costume/ full hair and make-up. The recital will begin promptly at 6:00 p.m. There will be a 10-minute intermission halfway through the show. We should finish by around 8:30 p.m.

Tickets: Tickets will be on sale at the Tempe Performing Arts Box Office on July 2, 2010 (480-350-2822). Please reserve your tickets in advance; our show is likely to sell out!

DVD’s: Everyone will receive a complimentary DVD of the show!!
